Actigraphy is a non-invasive method that measures activity using an accelerometer. Data collected by the actigraph is used to estimate sleep and wake patterns as well as several parameters related to the user's Circadian rhythm. All these calculations are done by a software, in the case of Condor Instruments, ActStudio.

With ActTrust, it is possible to monitor light, temperature, and activity exposure full-time and then perform readings and calculations with the ActStudio software, where it is possible to obtain sleep latency, amount of time in bed (TIB), total sleep time (TST), sleep onset latency (SOL), number of awakenings (NWAK), time awake after having start sleep episode (WASO), sleep efficiency (SE), non-parametric analyses, cosinor, periodogram and actogram measurements and diagnoses.

The actigraph, on the other hand, performs measurements over a period of time (measured in days), in which the external factors that govern our Circadian rhythm can be objectively measured by light, temperature, and activity measurement sensors, which will then be read in a software, in the case of Condor Instruments, ActStudio. Therefore, they are complementary measurement methods and both produce reliable results and diagnoses.
An actigraph is usually composed of an accelerometer that detects and measures activity. The accelerometer is capable of measuring movement and, together with a processor, it is able to calculate the level of movement at each interval and will store this data, so that it can be read in a software. Numerous factors change according to the actigraph in question; in the case of battery - they can be rechargeable or not - and storage - having different sampling periods and storage space.
In the case of ActTrust, it is composed of a 3-axis accelerometer, a grip temperature sensor, and an ambient light sensor, in addition to the rechargeable battery. With ActDock, the information contained in an ActTrust is sent to a computer through the USB port and, using the ActStudio software, it is possible to carry out analyses of the collected data and estimate sleep and wake patterns, as well as obtain several parameters related to the Circadian rhythm of the user.
The accelerometer is a kinematic movement analysis device, capable of measuring the accelerations caused and suffered by the human body.
ActTrust is water resistant up to 1m depth, so it can be used during bathing and other daily tasks, but not for swimming or diving.
Recharge it completely and turn it off using the ActStudio software. If it is stored unused for long periods of time, we recommend recharging it every 3 months to ensure battery life.
